 "... always strive to be better. If you strive to be good you can be holy even though you may not think so of yourselves. If you think that you are good, you are not humble, and arrogance distances you from holiness. In this peaceless world full of threats, your hands, apostles of my love, should be extended in prayer and mercy. 

And to me, my children, give the gift of the ROSARY, the roses which I love so much. My roses are your prayers pronounced with the heart and not only recited with the lips. My roses are your acts of prayer, faith and love. 

When my Son was little, he said to me that my children would be numerous and that they would bring me many roses. I did not comprehend Him. Now I know that you are those children who are bringing me roses when, above all, you love my Son, when you pray with the heart, when you help the poorest. Those are my roses. 

That is the faith which makes everything in life be done through love, not knowing arrogance, and always ready to forgive; never judging, always striving to understand one's brother. 

Therefore, apostles of my love, pray for those who do not know how to love, for those who do not love you, for those who have done evil to you, for those who have not come to know the love of my Son. My children, I ask this of you because, remember, to pray means to love and to forgive. Thank you."

Jakov is the youngest of visionaries that the Blessed Virgin Mary started appearing to in Medjugorje in 1981. Since then many hundreds of thousands of pilgrims came to this remote area between the mountains high up in Bosnia Hercegovina. The families there welcomed one and all and adapted their lives these 40 years, accommodating the influx of humanity from all corners of the world. They are helping others when they can also. Today, the  country is in dire need. Medjugorje families help others when possible and keep praying for all of us.

St Nick donations to Medjugorje area children & orphanage kids

 Thank you to everyone who contributed to The Saint Nicholas Project for children in Medjugorje area with prayers, love, and financial contributions.

$2,500 was raised through your generosity. Hundreds of prayers carried those gifts with love to those who needed it this Christmas season. $2,000 was used to make 270 packets for students up to 11-years-old for Saint Nicholas Day. The packets contained sweets, school and art supplies, and Rosary beads – wonderful gifts for children who may not have otherwise been able to receive such treats. The remaining $500 was given to the local orphanage, Mother’s Village, that is run by Franciscan Nuns and was created during the war by Father Slavko Barbaric. The orphanage is organized in family houses to ensure a family life: there are 7 houses and about 50 children who live at Mother’s Village. Mothersvillage.org

“St. Nicholas arrived today, December 4th at 2 pm. He had the most beautiful gifts for our students up to 4th grade. It was so much fun... Many people helped with this project and those involved know it was all orchestrated by Our Lady’s loving hands. May you be filled with love and gratitude for the gifts we have all received."

What a gift it has been to be able to share kindness with the Medjugorje area community that has always shown kindness to pilgrims. The Saint Nicholas Project was started because of the concerns of pilgrims who had visited the villages of Medjugorje in the past. This place of prayer is where The Virgin Mary has been appearing to 6 local visionaries for almost 40 years, & has dedicated itself to the care of religious pilgrims from all over the world; when the pandemic didn’t allow for pilgrims this year, the village took a terrible blow financially. The region depends on tourism and hospitality for economic strength and this has been a very, very difficult time for almost every family in Medjugorje.

The pilgrims who had been to this oasis of peace were moved to provide some gifts for the children of Medjugorje, and to remind the people of Medjugorje that they are loved and prayed for daily by their friends near and far, just as their families pray for all of us in the world every single day. Donations also given via a lovely idea started by Joseph and Brenda on gofundme "the Saint Nicholas Project for Medjugorje".

Saint Nicholas Day was chosen as the day of celebration: local custom traditionally keeps Christmas as a more religious observation & tradition, & honors Saint Nicholas Day as the day of gift giving. Kindness matters.

They say that you can finally see the sky over Italy, and the Italians are socializing, meeting and loving their neighbors, balcony walls and glass windows are no longer obstacles .. There will not be silence in the halls and elevators anymore. The entire Christian world is praying together for the same thing. Families are finally coming to know one another, to become familiar, to socialize and pray out loud, and suddenly there is plenty of time. The virus even slows down time.
Where were you hurrying to, poor little person? Don’t you see how small and helpless you are compared to something far smaller than yourself? - What are you doing with yourself while your days have been counted just as the hairs on your head have?
Stop, and listen to the silence, return to your roots and pray to God. You are so desperately afraid for your bodies but what about your soul, how are you preparing it?

Some gifts don't look like blessings to us, yet they are... Just open your eyes to see how a tiny unknown particle changes your world, and Someone high up above is seeing everything and, what do you think, is He smiling?? 😉
